The authors regret the mistaken inclusion of the affiliation of “bDepartment of Neurology and Key Laboratory of Cerebral Microcirculation, University of Shandong, Affiliated Hospital of Taishan Medical College, Tai’an, Shandong, China” under FZ. The correct affiliation for FZ should be “Department of Neurology, Pittsburgh Institute of Brain Disorders and Recovery, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA, USA”.

The authors mistakenly included the following funding source “NIH grants (NS089534, NS095671, NS105430 and NS036736 to JC), US Department of Veterans Affairs (BX002495 to JC)” and “the National Natural Science Foundation of China (81271276 to FZ; 81228008 to JC)”. The correct “Acknowledgements” should be “This work was supported by grants from the US National Institutes of Health (NS092810 to FZ), and the American Heart Association (10SDG2560122 to FZ). We thank Pat Strickler for administrative support.”
