On the October 31st, 2018 passed away Amela Kulenovic, full professor of Faculty of medicine of University of Sarajevo. Professor Amela Kulenovic was born in Sarajevo in 1956. She finished Grammar school and Gymnasium in Sarajevo. She graduated at the Faculty of medicine of University of Sarajevo in the 1980. During a period from 1978 to 1981, she worked as demonstrator at Cathedra of Anatomy of the Faculty of medicine at Sarajevo University. Since 1981 until 1982, she worked as associate assistant at the same Cathedra. In the year 1982 she was elected as assistant at Cathedra of Anatomy and promoted to higher assistant in the year 1989. During the wartime in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the period from 1992 to 1995, she was included in implementation of practical exercises at Cathedra of Anatomy of the Faculty of medicine and other biomedical faculties of Sarajevo University. After completing the doctor’s internship and taking the professional examination, she enrolls in the postgraduate study “Basics of Medical Research”. The Master’s thesis on topic “Studying of Variation in the Vascularization of the Human Pancreas” defended in 1988 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo and at that time acquired a scientific degree of Master in medical sciences. A doctoral dissertation on topic “Comparative Anatomical Study of Distribution and Anastomosis of Human Brain and Mammals” defended in January 18, 1996 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo, under the mentorship of Professor of Anatomy of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Sarajevo, Ibrahim Arnautovic. To the title of Assistant professor (docent) she was elected in 1996, and reelected in 2002. She was elected to the academic title of Assistant professor in 2004, and promoted to a Full-time professor in 2010. She published more than 120 scientific and professional papers, also, two reviewed university textbooks and two monographs. She participated in the development of several scientific research projects, and in three projects she was the leader. During her work at the Faculty of Medicine, she made a significant contribution to youth education through mentoring for many degrees, two master’s theses and three doctoral dissertations. She has actively participated in the development of reformed curriculum of studies for students of the Medical, Dental, Pharmaceutical and Faculty of Health Sciences. She presented her organization abilities as the president of the Organizing Committee of the Second Bosnian-Herzegovinian Symposium “Morphology in Science and Practice” with international participation, held in Sarajevo from 27-30 September 2006, and a member of the Scientific Program Committee of the Third Bosnian-Herzegovinian Symposium “Morphology in science and practice” with international participation, held in Sarajevo from 23 to 25 September 2009. She is the winner of multiple recognitions, plaque and acknowledgments for her work. She served as Head of the Department of Anatomy at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo. In 2017 she was a acting Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sarajevo.
