Stroke, which is a sudden cerebral vascular disease, including ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, and vascular dementia might be followed up. Stroke with its high incidence, high recurrence rate, high disability rate, and high mortality has become one of the most serious health hazards as the “four high” characteristics. According to the epidemiological survey, 200 ones will have a stroke, which 130 ones will die from at the same time among 100,000 people in the urban and rural areas. According to this calculation, the number of the annual new patients with stroke is about 2,500,000, and the death toll is more than 1,500,000, and the number of the survivors is about 6~7 million. The superimposed effects of stroke and the rapid growth of the huge economic burden and mental pressure to the society and family have become an important public health problem that seriously affects the people's livelihood. And stroke has become the first cause of death in our country according to the data statistics of Chinese Health Yearbook 2010 published by the Ministry of Health.
Chinese Stroke Association (CSA) is the first and an academic, nonprofit social organization that is named by specific disease and voluntarily formed by the national experts and units of stroke prevention and control. The aim of CSA is to unite and organize the majority of the scientific and technical participates from the field of prevention and control of stroke, improve the professional and technical level, and promote the prosperity, development, popularization, and promotion. CSA held the first national congress in Beijing in January 18, 2015, marking the establishment of the first national academic organization in the field of cerebrovascular disease, which is to promote the improvement of the level of scientific research and the multidisciplinary combined treatment of stroke, to narrow the gap of the level of prevention and control between China and the developed countries in Europe and the USA, to promote the international cooperation, and establish the Chinese model of prevention and control of stroke.
