Fluorescent derivatives of cytosine

Abstract

The main approaches of the synthesis of fluorescent compounds on the basis of cytosine and its derivatives as well as the improvement of their spectral characteristics have been developed. The results of quantum-chemical calculations of the electronic structure and spectra of the ethenocytisine derivatives have been considered. The possibility of the application of these compounds as fluorescent probes and labels to biological investigations has been discussed.
