We welcome you all in this scientific feast and on behalf of the whole editorial team would like to congratulate the Kerala Chapter of Indian Chest Society and Academy of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine for organizing the 21st NAPCON, 2019.
NAPCON is a platform for top respiratory expert clinicians and upcoming researchers coming from different states of India. There has been increasing participation of many young researches and PG students in the NAPCON conference. We would like to acknowledge the sincere efforts of young respiratory scholars and renowned national and international faculty to submit their abstracts for this prestigious conference and publishing team from Wolters Kluwer for compiling the work in the most presentable fashion.
As a part of continuing efforts to disseminate the knowledge among respiratory clinicians and researches, Lung India has decided to publish selected NAPCON abstracts as a supplement to this journal. This is an endeavor to provide you with the best contemporary scientific work in the field of respiratory medicine being conducted in our country. A team constituted from journal editorial board had been given the specific task of selecting the abstracts for publication.
The abstracts have been organized under six sections: airway disease, parenchymal lung disease, intervention, lung cancer, pleural disease, and other lung diseases. The bulk of research in our country focuses mainly on the airway diseases and parenchymal lung disease. Interstitial lung disease (ILD), once considered to be a rare occurrence, has been the focus of attraction in this supplement and you will agree that ILD is not so rare. You will find interesting abstracts on hypersensitivity pneumonitis, sarcoidosis, eosinophilic lung disease, and connective tissue disease-associated ILDs. It is noteworthy that in interventional pulmonology, a fast upcoming field of respiratory medicine, a lot of quality and novel work is taking place in our country.
Special care has been taken to disseminate unbiased and nonduplicate knowledge among conference attendees and readers of Lung India in general, which has always been a top priority for the journal.
The organizers of the 21st NAPCON need to be applauded once again for their sincere efforts to make this conference a success.
We wish you all good luck.
