Mice Use Intermediate Frequencies as a Cue to Discriminate between FM Sweeps and Low-Frequency Pure Tones

Circles in red are the probabilities of an SVM classifier, trained to discriminate between FM sweeps and 4-kHz pure tones, to classify different pure tones as an FM sweep. Population vectors were used to train the classifier correspond to the mean deconvolved calcium responses of 4,692 significantly responding and discriminative neurons in a (220 ms; 448 ms) time bin with 20 repetitions for each sound. Circles in gray correspond to the same analysis but after exclusion of neurons that respond significantly to an 8-kHz pure tone.
