On behalf of the editorial board of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Oncology Nursing (APJON), our authors, readers, and reviewers, I would like to extend my deep appreciation to Dr. Judith Johnson, the founding editor of APJON, who had led our journal to develop a strong base with significant achievements as Editor-in-Chief since its establishment in 2014. Under her leadership, the journal has seen a consistent increase in the number of views, articles downloaded, submissions, and publications. Her dedication to the mission of excellence at the APJON is a legacy that I will endeavor to uphold in my term.
I am not a newcomer to APJON and I value every opportunity of serving APJON in the past 5 years. Since its establishment, I have been engaging in my role of associate editor, and recently, in my role as deputy editor. I have had the privilege of working closely with our editorial team, reviewers, and readers. From 2020 onward, I am very honored and humbled to take on the role of Editor-in-Chief, and I am grateful to the Asian Oncology Nursing Society (AONS) for supporting me to contribute to the mission of the APJON.
In 2018, the global incidence of cancer was estimated to be 18.1 million and 48.4% of them were reported in the Asia region.[1] As nurse clinicians, educators, researchers, and health administrators, it is imperative that Asia continues to lead the advancement and evolution of our field. APJON has been serving as a platform for all oncology nurses from Asia-Pacific region to lead the future of oncology nursing by generating, sharing, and discussing innovative research of regional and international significance. As an official journal of AONS, APJON is committed to transform its vision into actions: Cancer patients in Asia will receive best care from cancer nurses who are well prepared in providing high-quality and science-based care.
Our goals would not be achieved without collective efforts of publishing good-quality and impactful publications. I invite each of you to actively participate and contribute to the APJON as an author, reviewer, and reader and advocate for new ideas and leader for change. The APJON has a strong foundation and I am confident that collectively, we can take it to new heights.
