Dear Members,
Greetings from President
At the outset, I would like to thank you for trusting my ability and electing me as the President of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists (ISA) for the year 2019–2020. I will strive to achieve the goals set by our seniors. With support from everyone, we can take ISA to new heights not only within our country but also across the globe.
It gives me immense pleasure to share with you that we are going to implement the VISION 2020 mission of ISA. This involves the following:
Safe Anaesthesia, Safe Country
Innovation and Research
International Exchange Programme
Professional Wellbeing.
We all know safe and accessible anaesthesia care is the need of the hour not only in our country but also across the globe. ISA will strive to provide this safe access to all citizens of the country. We plan to conduct Safe courses like Safe Paediatric Anaesthesia, Safe Obstetric Anaesthesia, Essential Pain Management, Primary Trauma Care and Vital Anaesthesia Simulation Training across the country. These training programmes will empower our anaesthesia colleagues to render quality care to the needy.
Currently, our country is one among the top five innovating countries. ISA should step forward in contributing research and innovative projects to the world. We have started ISA Innovation Cell to encourage our members take up innovation in a larger perspective. We are not only looking at providing technical inputs but also assist members in getting resources for successful completion of the project.
Knowledge exchange is an important exercise for all professionals. Indian Journal of Anaesthesia is in forefront of these activities. ISA has not only initiated Fellowships at national level but also at international level. In continuation of this exercise, we are offering 13 fellowships to international candidates. Now, we are going to facilitate more fellows from India for overseas fellowships. This should be a good exposure to all our ISA members.
As part of professional wellbeing, ISA has initiated Family Benevolent Fund, Professional Indemnity Insurance, Private Practitioners Forum, Guidelines, CME's, Workshops and many more to add it. On top of these, we have also started many novel projects like ISA Yuva, ISA Sports Club, ISA Cultural Club and others.
It is my personal request to all members to utilise all these services and avail benefits. There are many awards to win; please log into www.isaweb.in for more details.
ISA is not lagging behind in social initiatives, and the activities of the Indian Resuscitation Council (IRC) are commendable. IRC is making international bodies to take note of the long strides of 'Make in India' concept of ISA.
Finally, I would like to say nothing is impossible. 'To Reach the Unreached' we have over 30,000 members in ISA spread over close to 200 city branches and 25 state branches; the resources are plenty. We will achieve our goals and the mission 'VISION 2020'.
'The Journey of thousand miles also starts with first step, let's make a beginning.'
Long Live ISA
Jai Hind
