EDITORIAL

Cefiderocol (1) is a cephalosporin with an unusual mechanism of transport for reaching the periplasmic space of Gram-negative bacteria. It is a siderophore, an iron transport molecule, which crosses the outer membrane of Gram-negative bacteria using the bacterial iron transport system. Read the comic strip to find out more.
