Shikonin stimulates fatty acid oxidation and promotes energy expenditure in HFD-induced obese mice. HFD-induced obese mice were orally administrated vehicle or shikonin for 4 weeks. After administration, mice were transferred to a chamber and (A) VO2, (B) VCO2, (C) respiratory quotient, and (D) energy expenditure were measured using indirect calorimetry for 8 h during dark cycles. Values represent the mean ± SEM of eight mice.
