Treatment-induced changes in functional connectivity were explored between bilateral amygdala and a distributed network of regions of interest in the hypothalamus, brainstem, medial prefrontal cortex (MPFC), anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), orbitofrontal cortex (OFC), and posterior superior (pSTG) and middle temporal gyri (pMTG) (left panel). For each region, changes from baseline in amygdala connectivity are visualized separately for each treatment group (oxytocin and placebo) and assessment session (T1–T3). Vertical bars denote ±standard errors. A amygdala, L left, R right. T1 assessment session immediately after the 4-week treatment (at least 24 h after the final administration), T2 assessment session 4 weeks post treatment, T3 assessment session 1 year post treatment.
