Serial sampling in both nostrils with foam swabs reveals a steady state for HRV, RSV and HMPV viral loads prior to rapid elimination. (b) Levels for each cytokine (granzyme B, perforin, IFNγ, IP-10, MIP-1α, IL-1α, IL-6, TNF-α, IL-20p70, IL-21) are shown on the right. Paired cytokines show concordant expansion and clearance phases.
