sRNA 179 modulates the Rsm system by increasing RsmY transcription. (A) The indicated strains carrying a PexsD-lacZ reporter were transformed with either the vector control (pJN), the Hfq expression vector, or sRNA 0161 and 179 expression vectors. Strains were cultured under inducing conditions for T3SS gene expression supplemented with 0.05% or 0.2% arabinose to induce Hfq or sRNA expression, respectively, and assayed for PexsD-lacZ reporter activity as reported in Miller units. The reported values with the standard error represent the average of at least three experiments. *, P < 0.05.
