Brooke L. Gildon, PharmD, BCPS, BCPPS, FPPA

Dr. Gildon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) College of Pharmacy in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She joined the SWOSU faculty in 2016. From 2009 to 2015, Dr. Gildon was an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Clinical and Administrative Sciences at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and the Department of Pediatrics at OU School of Community Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dr. Gildon currently practices as a clinical pharmacy specialist in complex care and rehabilitation medicine at The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital in Bethany, Oklahoma. In addition, Dr. Gildon created and facilitates the antimicrobial stewardship program for the institution. She also has practice interests in pediatric ambulatory care, transitions of care, and asthma. Dr. Gildon received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from SWOSU College of Pharmacy. Following graduation, she completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency at the University of Oklahoma College of Pharmacy and OU Medical Center. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Gildon has been recognized as a Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist, a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist, and a Certified Asthma Educator. She has received numerous professional awards from the Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA) and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) distinguishing her achievements in pediatric pharmacy practice and pharmacy education. Among her professional affiliations, she is a member of PPA, AACP, Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International, and American College of Clinical Pharmacy. Her research/scholarship interests focus on medication safety, pediatric pharmacotherapy, and pharmacy education. In addition to professional activities, Dr. Gildon enjoys spending time with friends and family and baking. Other personal yet pediatric interests involve supporting local families facing infant loss, infertility, and navigating the infant adoption process.

Jeffrey K. Low, PharmD, BCPPS

Dr. Low is the Clinical Pharmacist Lead-Pediatrics for the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock. He also serves as an instructor in pediatrics at The Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth and an adjunct assistant professor at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Low earned a doctor of pharmacy degree from the University of Kentucky and completed a pharmacy practice residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Before joining the staff at DHMC, Dr. Low was an Assistant Professor at North Dakota State University where he taught courses in pediatric pharmacotherapy and pharmacokinetics. Dr. Low was the co-founder of the pharmacy residency program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in 2001 and served as the Director of the Postgraduate Year One Pharmacy Residency Program from 2006-2011. An active member of the Pediatric Pharmacy Advocacy Group, Dr. Low has served as the Vice President for Member Services, Chair of the Board of Directors, and is currently serving as Treasurer. Dr. Low's areas of interest focus on pediatric pharmacy, including medication safety and quality of care in the intensive care nursery and pediatric intensive care unit. He has delivered a variety of lectures and poster presentations related to pediatric pharmacy and pharmacotherapy. Dr. Low precepts PGY1 residents during the required rotation in pediatrics, and he offers elective rotations in the pediatric intensive care unit and neonatal intensive care unit.

PPA PRESIDENTIAL AWARD

The Presidential Citation is chosen annually by the sitting PPA President/Chair of the Board and awarded to an individual that has made a significant and direct impact on the Pediatric Pharmacy. The 2020 award was presented to the “KIDs List Team”: Drs. Rachel Meyers, Jennifer Thackary, Kelly Matson, Christopher McPherson, Lisa Lubsch, Robert Hellinga, and David Hoff. The award was given in recognition of for their work in creation and publication of the KIDs List, which is a list of drugs that are potentially inappropriate for use in pediatric patients. The paper entitled “Key Potentially Inappropriate Drugs in Pediatrics: The KIDs List was published at J Pediatr Pharmacol Ther. 2020;25(3):175-191. doi:10.5863/1551-6776-25.3.175.
