A low dose of clenbuterol stimulates in vivo glucose uptake in gastrocnemius muscle of DIO mice during chronic treatment. (a, b) DIO was developed in C57Bl/6N mice maintained at 30°C and on HFD for 8 months. DIO mice were treated with saline (vehicle; n = 7) or clenbuterol (n = 8) for 6 days. After 4 days of treatment, IPGTT was performed (not shown). After 6 days of treatment in vivo glucose uptake was measured in gastrocnemius muscle, 5 h after the last treatment and after 5 h of fasting (a). Insulin was measured in serum collected during the test (b). The data were analysed with unpaired two-tailed Student’s t test: *p < 0.05, ***p < 0.001 vs vehicle
