Canada & US: Zochem/Zinc Oxide - ZnO

PMCID: PMC7375955

Six weeks after the World Health Organisation (WHO) officially declared that the spread of Covid-19 infections can be described as a pandemic, Zochem LLC and Zinc Oxide LLC declared that their zinc oxide plants have been continuing to run at full capacity. The two plants, located at Brampton, Ontario (Canada) and Dickson, Tennessee (US), have a combined capacity of 95,000 tonnes/y.

The company noted that all three of the world’s top tyre industry multinationals - Goodyear, Bridgestone and Michelin - have implemented temporary plant closures. Zinc oxide sales to the tyre sector dropped by 30% in April 2020. There was little change in sales to the oil and gas sector. Sales to the chemical, pharmaceutical, packaging, animal feed and fertiliser sectors rose.
