
Prof. Chad P Gehani
The Contemporary Clinical Dentistry congratulate Prof. Chad P. Gehani of New York University for confiscating responsibilities as The 156th President of The American Dental Association and being the FIRST DENTIST OF INDIAN origin to represent 163,000 dental professionals in the United States of America (USA). His vision is to unite the dental Profession so that the ADA is the “Voice of Dentistry” in the Unites States. He is widely respected for his ability to bring all the stakeholders together.
Born in Kurla, Mumbai, educated in The Government Dental College Mumbai, immigrated to the USA in 1975, he had a very humble beginning and exemplifies his life dedicated to community service. During his tenure as the President of New York State Dental Association (NYSDA), he successfully preserved adult Dental Medicaid and created a task force to examine the licensure process (Post Graduate Year 1 Task Force). The NYSDA was successful in passing legislation offering loan forgiveness to young dentists/recent graduates willing to serve in areas of decreased access to care in New York State. He has been conferred by various elite awards, viz., Ellis Island Medal of Honor, 2015; Emil Lentchner Distinguished Service Award of Queens County Dental Society, 2013; Distinguished Service Award of The Pierre Fauchard Academy, New York Section, 2013; 2008; New York State Dental Foundation Award of Excellence in Community Service, 2006; International College of Dentists Award for International Dental Service, 2000; and Best Teacher Award, International College of Dentists (India Section), 1990. In addition, he is a Fellow of American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy.
