We are especially excited for this third issue of JOR Spine in 2020—a bright spot in what has been a trying year for all of us. We are extremely grateful to Dr. Chitra Dahia and Dr. Christine Le Maitre for their outstanding leadership and organization of this special issue focused on “Methods, Protocols and Resources in Spine Research.” Dr. Dahia and Dr. Le Maitre gathered more than a dozen outstanding papers (detailed in their Perspective that follows) that establish new methods, tools, and standards for the field, and we hope this special issue will be a resource for the spine research community for years to come.

We are also excited to welcome our new Advisory Review Board members! Welcome to:

  • Arthur Michalek

  • Conor Buckley

  • Devina Purmessur

  • Jordy Schol

  • Marianna Peroglio

  • Rahul Gawri

  • Robert Bowles

  • Sarah Gullbrand

  • Svenja Illien‐Junger

  • Zhen Li

These individuals have provided extraordinary support of the journal since its inception by reviewing numerous articles and submitting their best work, and we look forward to their outstanding contributions to JOR Spine in the years to come. Welcome all!

Finally, we are delighted to highlight our second call for submissions for the JOR Spine Early Career Award. This award is designed to recognize the “rising stars” of our field and their outstanding work published in JOR Spine. Each year, awardees will be recognized at the Annual ORS and Spine Section Meeting with a $1000 award and free registration for the annual ORS meeting. The deadline for submissions for this year is 30 October 2020, and details for how to apply can be found at: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/page/journal/25721143/homepage/earlycareeraward. We look forward to another great round of submissions.

As always, we thank all of you for your excellent submissions and continued support of JOR Spine.

Happy Fall,

Rob, Mauro, and Dai
