COMMENT.
Ebara Corp's consolidated sales for the first six months of 2020 were down 1.0% year on year to ¥245.5 billion. The Japanese company reported operating income of ¥13.7 billion for the six months ended 30 June 2020, a 5.3% increase on last year's ¥13.0 billion. Orders received were up 4.9% to ¥257.6 billion.
Ebara's Fluid Machinery & Systems segment sales fell 3.2% to ¥149.3 billion, impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. Fluid Machinery & Systems segment income was ¥8.2 billion, up 54.3% on last year's ¥5.3 billion, while orders received were down 7.1% to ¥150.3 billion.
In the Pumps business, some projects have been delayed or postponed in oil and gas markets due to the spread of Covid-19 and the decline in crude oil prices. The volume of Ebara's water infrastructure orders was down on last year, while electric power orders were unchanged.
