IL-1β effect on myoblast proliferation is mediated by COX-2 activity. Pharmacological inhibition of COX-2 with lumiracoxib leads to a reduction in proliferation, which was increased by IL-1β (gray), in comparison with control cells (black, treated with vehicle 0.1% Tween-80). The TNF-α effect (dark gray) was not affected by lumiracoxib. Data are shown as mean ± SEM (* p < 0.05 vs. control; ## p < 0.01 vs. IL-1β from unpaired t-test).
