This checklist for animal experimentation provides guidance for transparent reporting and scientific rigour of preclinical research as set out in ARRIVE 2.0 and the British Journal of Pharmacology: Updated guidance for 2020 (Lilley, Stanford et al., 2020). This is in line with the UK Concordat on Openness on Animal Research, the UK Research and Innovation Guidance to grant applicants, the USA NIH Guidelines on reporting preclinical research, the ARRIVE Guidelines 2.0 (Percie du Sert et al., 2020) and the National Centre for the Replacement, Refinement & Reduction of Animals in Research (NC3Rs), the UK government funded organisation set up to promote the principles of the 3Rs.
