Thank you for bringing your concerns to my attention. My editorial, “We Are Guilty” (April 28, 2020), was never meant to be polarizing or provocative. I apologize to anyone who thought it was discriminating or derogatory, as that was never my intention. The editorial was meant to only address the opioid crisis and nothing else. The “Chinese invader” wording will be removed from the online version, as we understand the implications that come with this language.
