This delightful childrens’ book is the first in a series of 3 books about Icelandic puffins. The series was inspired by the author’s visit to Iceland and is obviously a labor of love. Puffins in Flight, is a story in verse form about a young puffin named “Arni” who is searching for his playmate “Birta” before they set off to sea. Educational facts about puffins and Iceland, such as “The Icelandic word for puffin is lundi,” are interspersed within the story. The book is illustrated with beautiful photographs of Icelandic puffins taken by the author. Designed for young readers (kindergarten to second grade), this series will appeal to anyone with a love of puffins. It would be a wonderful addition to any veterinary hospital’s waiting room.
