Summer has arrived, at least in the Northern Hemisphere, and Winter has moved South to chill our cousins there. By the time you read this editorial half of 2005 will have come and gone. That means the Symposium on Advanced Wound Care (SAWC) and the Wound Healing Society (WHS) meetings will have taken place. In the latter half of 2005 we have the joint meeting of the European Wound Management Association (EWMA), European Tissue Repair Society (ETRS) and the German Society for Wound Healing and Wound Treatment (DGfW) in Stuttgart, Wounds UK in Harrogate and the Canadian Association of Wound Care (CAWC) to look forward to and to show the degree of activity that exists in this emerging and popular subject.
In the second edition of Volume 2 of the IWJ we continue to publish topics from authors from around the world to continue to support our goal of being a real international journal. We are continuing our efforts to further expand our progress in this internationalisation of wound healing.
In this edition of the journal we have included a book review. We would like this to become a regular feature of the IWJ and as such if you know of a text which warrants review or indeed feel inclined to write one then please submit it through our usual e‐mail address:submissions@internationalwoundjournal.com. Similarly, we always encourage letters, if you feel strongly about something then please put pen to paper. Indeed if you don’t want a letter published, but wish to express your views directly to the Editor‐in‐Chief or myself then please do so through our personal e‐mails. If you have an idea of something you wish to see included in the IWJ then let us know! We would be pleased to hear from you.
The IWJ will have a presence at the Stuttgart meeting as will our six Strategic Partners. Much will be going on including many satellite symposia bringing new and important information for all. Some of our Strategic Partners have provided advanced notice in this edition of the IWJ. Should you wish to attend any of these events then please speak directly with the Strategic Partner Company.
Living in Toronto, Canada and working directly with Professor Gary Sibbald, I have first hand knowledge of the progress and effort being made for the WUWHS 2008 meeting. As you are aware from the last edition of the IWJ the next meeting of this group will be held in Toronto! Since our last update, the dates have been fixed; the venue secured – Toronto Convention Centre, 4–8 June 2008! Put these dates in your forward planner as I suppose that 2008 calendars are not even designed never mind printed at the moment.
This is no excuse, however, to miss out on what will be the largest event in wound healing history. In addition a new logo has been designed for the meeting and you can see this as you browse this edition. Much work is ongoing to ensure societies, companies and delegates have an opportunity for participating in a global event that again emphasises the international nature of this subject.
