I read the recent report on available silver dressings with a great interest (1). Cavanagh et al. concluded that ‘The results of this study emphasise the importance of confirming product claims regarding silver dressing efficacy (1)’. There are some concerns on this work. First, the difference in bactericidal activities derived by different silver dressing agents might be due to the nature of those agents. The nanosilver agent might be more penetratable into microbe compared to other agents based on its size. Second, the amount of the agent, based on its concentration, should also be kept in mind. As this implies the direct concentration osmotic effect on microbe, it is required to compare the agents at the same concentration to get a fair comparison.
