In calculating the visual angles for Experiments 1-4, the values for the half angles were reported in the original paper instead of multiplying the values by two to obtain the values for the full angles. Also, the subject numbers for a pair of experiments reported in Table 1 were swapped. The authors apologize for these errors. The following phrases in the article were changed to rectify the academic record:

Under methods of Experiment 1, the phrase “All images were placed on a dark gray square (subtended 4.6° × 4.6°)” has been corrected to “All images were placed on a dark gray square (subtended 9.13° × 9.13°)” and the phrase “Participants fixated at a central red dot (0.2° in diameter)” has been corrected to “Participants fixated at a central red dot (0.46° in diameter).”

Under methods of Experiment 2, the phrase “Images form Experiment 1 at a smaller size (subtended 2.9° × 2.9°)” has been corrected to “Images from Experiment 1 at a smaller size (subtended 5.7° × 5.7°)” and the phrase “Images were centered at 1.56° above” has been corrected to “Images were centered at 3.08° above.”

Under methods of Experiment 3, the phrase “controlled images form Experiment 1, shown at fixation at either a small size (2.31° × 2.31°) or a large size (5.77° × 5.77°).” has been corrected to “controlled images from Experiment 1, shown at fixation at either a small size (4.6° × 4.6°) or a large size (11.4° × 11.4°).”

Under methods of Experiment 4, the phrase “placed on a dark gray square (subtended 4.6° × 4.6°)” has been corrected to “placed on a dark gray square (subtended 9.13° × 9.13°).”

Within Table 1, subject numbers were reported “P1-P7” for experiment 4 and “P1-P5, P7” for experiment 5. The corrected table reports “P1-P5, P7” for experiment 4 and “P1-P7” for experiment 5.
