We are sorry if the legend for Figure 6 and its annotation has been difficult to follow and we would like to clarify the following.

We confirm that in A. the cortical malformation shown on the in vivo MRI figure is shown on the right hand side. In B. the postfixed resected surgical specimen (prior to 9.4T MRI) was shown for illustrative purposes of the malformation only and was not intended to be coaligned, orientated or registered to the MRI slice shown in either A or C. A and B were purely included to illustrate and confirm this pathology diagnosis for the reader.

As we state in the legend, the MRI 9.4 T2 image of the specimen is shown in C and the corresponding histology stains for this matched gyrus at this same level are illustrated in E and G. We have used black arrows on each of C, E and G to annotate the corresponding gyrus as well as arrowheads to align with the graphs.

To conclude it was not the design of this study to coregister and correlate in vivo MRI with imaging of the resected samples. The in vivo MRI as well as the fixed macroscopic images were included in this case and figure for illustrative purposes of the pathology only.
