It has been my privilege to serve on the editorial board of Missouri Medicine in Internal Medicine, reluctantly stepping down after thirty-plus years. I have watched it grow from an average journal with an occasional interesting medical article to one of the premier peer-reviewed journals in the country.
This transition from average to outstanding is entirely the result of the dedication, intellect, and hard work of our Editor, Dr. John Hagan, and it has been my pleasure and honor to work with him over these past two decades. And while he is always busy thanking and giving credit to everyone on the editorial board, it occurred to me that no one is thanking him for all that he has done to make the Journal the outstanding, nationally recognized publication that it has become.
So, on behalf of the editorial board of the Journal, past and present, and all the Journal’s readers, I want to thank Dr. Hagan for his incredible dedication and hard work. Missouri physicians should know what a gem Dr. Hagan has been for the medical community.
