Erratum: “Beyond the Light under the Lamppost: New Chemical Candidates for Biomonitoring in Young Children”

Nate Seltenrich
PMCID: PMC8041266  PMID: 33872088

The statement “Of the roughly 40,000 chemicals approved for commercial use in the United States, very few are routinely monitored in the U.S. population” is incorrect. The statement has been corrected to read “Of the vast number of potentially toxic chemicals used in the United States, very few are routinely monitored in the U.S. population.” This corrected statement also cites a new reference: Wang Z, Walker GW, Muir DCG, Nagatani-Yoshida K. 2020. Toward a global understanding of chemical pollution: a first comprehensive analysis of national and regional chemical inventories. Environ Sci Technol 54(5):2575–2584, https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.est.9b06379.

EHP regrets the error.
