In the article by Stockfelt et al. entitled “Increased CD11b and Decreased CD62L in Blood and Airway Neutrophils from Long-Term Smokers with and without COPD” [J Innate Immun. 2020;12:480–489, DOI: 10.1159/000509715], the data sets on the concentrations of TNF in Table 4 were not summarized in a correct manner. The corrected data sets are shown below. However, these corrected data sets do not alter the main conclusions of the paper.
Table 4.
Concentration of TNF protein (pg/mL) in plasma cell and cell-free BAL samples from HNS and LTS with and without COPD
| HNS (n = 8) | LTS without COPD (n = 9) | p value versus HNS | LTS with COPD (n = 4) | p value versus HNS | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plasma BAL |
3.4 (3.0, 4.2) 0.2 (0.1, 0.4) |
3.4 (3.2, 4.2) 0.2 (0.1, 0.2) |
>0.99 >0.99 |
3.0 (2.8, 3.3) 0.5 (0.3, 0.6) |
0.62 0.53 |
Data are presented as median (quartile 1, quartile 3) with analytical statistics utilizing the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by Dunn's multiple comparison test. BAL, bronchoalveolar lavage; HNS, healthy never-smokers; LTS, long-term smokers; COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
