Bryan, Thomas J., Peterborough, Ont.; University of London (England), 1965; former staff, Department of Family Medicine, and emergency physician, Peterborough Civic and St. Joseph's General hospitals; civil aviation medical examiner, Transport Canada. Died Dec. 1, 2000, aged 63.

Day, Frederick G., North Saanich, BC; University of Alberta, 1942; orthopedic surgery; FRFPS(Glas.), FICS, FAACP, FRCSC; RCAMC, WW II; former chief, orthopedics, Royal Alexandra Hospital; head, orthopedics, Saanich Peninsula Hospital; associate staff, University Hospital; helped found cerebral palsy clinic, Edmonton; lecturer, University of Alberta. Died Nov. 29, 2000, aged 84; survived by his wife, Sheila, and 7 children. His obituary stated: “For many years Fred was highly involved in the Canadian Cattlemen's Association and greatly enjoyed the breeding and showing of his Charolais cattle.”

Fowler, Rodney S., Toronto; University of Toronto, 1951; pediatrics; FAAC, FAAP, FRCPC; former senior physician, Department of Cardiology, Hospital for Sick Children; associate member, Institute of Biomedical Electronics, University of Toronto; professor emeritus, pediatrics, University of Toronto. Died Nov. 10, 2000, aged 72; survived by 2 children.

Greenwood, William F., Toronto; University of Toronto, 1937; internal medicine; FACC, FRCPC; RCAMC, WW II; former staff and chief, cardiology, Toronto General Hospital; staff, University of Toronto. Died Nov. 27, 2000, aged 87; survived by his wife, Gladys, 3 children and 2 stepchildren. His obituary stated: “He was a talented musician, an enthusiastic gardener, a great outdoorsman and lover of nature.”

Hill, George R., Calgary; University of London (England), 1958; former staff, Foothills, Holy Cross and Alberta Children's hospitals. Died Oct. 28, 2000, aged 71; survived by 2 children and his friend, Anne Swan.

Hooper, Georges J., Tracy (Qué.); Université de Montréal, 1959; chirurgie général; FRCSC; ancien chirurgien de l'hôpital Notre-Dame de Ste-Croix; chirurgien général et directeur des services professionnels du Centre hospitalier Hôtel-Dieu de Sorel; chef du département de chirurgie et président du conseil d'administration du Centre hospitalier de Mont-Laurier; président du conseil d'administration des services sociaux de l'Outaouais; président à l'Association médicale du Québec (1986-89) et secrétaire de la Fédération des médecins spécialistes de la province de Québec. Décédé le 6 décembre 2000, à l'âge de 63 ans; laisse son épouse, Andrée Charlebois, et quatre enfants.

Died Nov. 15, 2000, aged 58; survived by his wife, Dr. Joanna, and 2 children.

Kober, Dorothy S., Oakville, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1941; MCFP; former staff, Oakville–Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. Died Nov. 15, 2000, aged 84; survived by 2 children.

Lamarre, Jean-Paul, Outremont (Qué.); Université Laval, 1963; anesthésie; ancien membre du personnel du Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal–Pavillon St-Luc. Décédé le 17 novembre 2000, à l'âge de 63 ans.

Mahdi, Abbas, Victoria; Cairo University (Egypt), 1950; diagnostic radiology; DMRE(Cairo), CRCPC; former head, radiology, and staff, Prince Rupert Regional Hospital. Died of cancer Oct. 27, 2000, aged 75; survived by his wife, Anneliese.

Milton, Margaret E., Caledon Village, Ont.; University of Toronto, 1962; former chief medical director, Metro Toronto Homes for the Aged; coroner, York and Peel counties, and Metro Toronto. Died after being struck by a car Nov. 29, 2000, aged 73; survived by 4 children. A son told the Toronto Star: “My mother was passionate in anything she undertook and yet extremely compassionate when it came to other people. … I think that's what made her such a great coroner.”

Paidra, Juhan, Kingston, Ont.; University of Heidelberg (Germany), 1947; former staff, Lennox and Addington County General Hospital. Died Nov. 9, 2000, aged 85; survived by his wife, Asta, and 4 children.

Patriquin, Heidi B., Montreal; McGill University, 1964; diagnostic radiology; FRCPC; former staff, Department of Radiology, St. Justine Hospital; professor, University of Montreal. Died of breast cancer Nov. 23, 2000, aged 60; survived by 3 children, and her companion, Dr. Michel Lafortune. The Montreal Gazette reported: “She developed a Renaissance woman's range of interests: she played the viola da gamba, sang in choirs, ran marathons and hiked in the Alps.” In November, her daughter Dr. Lara accepted a lifetime-achievement award from the American Association of Women Radiologists on her mother's behalf.

Stewart, W. Brenton, Moncton, NB; Dalhousie University, 1952; diagnostic radiology; FRCPC; former assistant chief radiologist and consulting staff, Moncton (City) Hospital; senior member, CMA. Died Nov. 26, 2000, aged 80.
