The American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT) has released a new Return to Sports Post-COVID course on our Academy Learning Center! This continuing education program will focus on how COVID-19 has impacted organized sports participation from the outset of the virus to date. This program is presented by a multi-disciplinary panel of experienced clinicians, including athletic trainers, physical therapists, and physicians. Notable topics covered in this multi-segment program will include:

– A review of the impact of the virus on organized athletics

– The need for implemented policies and procedures in organized athletics to combat infectious disease

– Potential cardiovascular pathology post-COVID

– Phased return to sport considerations with case presentations

Individual segments of this program will allow the clinician to complete the program as their schedule allows. You can head to aaspt.org and navigate to our Academy Learning Center to learn more about this course and register! Members and non-members are encouraged to register and take advantage of this informational course.

“The Female Athlete” – Now Extended

The Academy has decided to extend access to our Team Concept Conference content through May of 2021 at a discounted price! TCC was centered around The Female Athlete this year and with such great presentations, speakers, and content, we couldn’t imagine limiting access to this course for our members and non-members! If you’re interested in checking out our TCC content and earning additional CEUs, head to aaspt.org and navigate to our TCC 2020 page under the Education tab on the home page.

Don’t forget – be sure to follow AASPT on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram to be one of the firsts to learn about our new programs, events, and continuing education opportunities.

American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM)

Get Ready to “Come Together” at the 2021 AMSSM Annual Meeting in San Diego

The Program Planning Committee invites you to the AMSSM 30th Annual Meeting from April 13 to 18, 2021. The 2021 meeting theme, “Come Together: Sports Medicine for Everybody,” is a meeting theme that demonstrates our commitment to meeting together, as well as our dual clinical missions of promoting exercise as medicine for all people and providing sports medicine care to all people.

We have a fantastic lineup of speakers from around the world that will inspire, energize, and educate. With this meeting we aim to bring you the up-to-the-moment and in-depth sports medicine knowledge that you need, as well as the collegiality and community building that is generated by coming together as a membership.

We will kick off the 2021 Annual Meeting with a focus on keys to Exercise Medicine and Health Equity that all sports medicine physicians should know. Joining us on Day One, we are lucky to have Billy Mills as our 2021 Presidential Keynote Speaker. Mr. Mills is an Oglala Lakota former track and field athlete who won the gold medal in the 10,000-meter run at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and went on to cofound a nonprofit that focuses on diabetes prevention in Native American youth.

Throughout the 2021 meeting, we will learn essential sports medicine knowledge from national and international experts. From the very latest on COVID-19 in athletes, to cutting-edge research on tendinopathy, to shared decision making in orthobiologics, to “food is medicine,” we have a lineup of topics that is clinically relevant and thought provoking. We are also excited that for the 2021 meeting, we will not only talk about physical activity but participate in some activity throughout the conference.

We continue to hope and plan for an in-person meeting for those able to travel to San Diego. We also know that many will be unable to attend in person, so we are planning to live-stream the meeting and create a virtual experience that allows all of us to connect with one another. Whether you can attend in-person or from home, we are excited to see you, catch up with you, and learn with you. We will continue to provide updates on logistics as we have them.
