In this review, Figure 2 was adapted from a published source (Mousa et al., 2018, Biomaterials 159, 204–214, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.biomaterials.2017.12.024) without appropriate acknowledgment. In addition, part of the text was also adapted from the same source without these sections being clearly marked as quotes and not the authors’ original text.
The authors are thus retracting this review and offer an apology to the readers of the journal.
