The resource is a useful source of guidelines for hospital practice that may be valuable for clinical staff in other hospitals wishing to compare practice in use of antimicrobials.
The guidelines included on the website are comprehensive, evidence-based and informed by local microbiology data; they will have limited value outside the USA and perhaps also outside California. This is because clinical practice and local epidemiology will vary between hospital settings both within the USA and across other countries.
The website and all links worked and the development of the resource appears to have followed good practice, making it a credible and reliable source of information for clinical teams working within the three hospitals involved.
The resource is similar to other web-based hospital guidelines, many of which are available as open-access resources.
While the guidelines on the website appear to be of high quality, their utility is limited by the local nature of their content and do not really constitute an educational resource. Access to good-quality guidelines can be useful as they can also be educational, although not the primary purpose of the JAC-AMR educational platform.
