Dear Editor,
COVID-19 is a new disease that can cause severe respiratory tract disorder and the patient with severe infection might die. An important consideration is on how to properly manage the dead body of the patient with COVID-19. The important issue in preventive medicine is on the possible disease spreading from a dead body. The strict universal precautions must be applied for the management of the dead body of the patients with COVID-19.[1,2] Here, we would like to share ideas based on the observation from a country that the infection occurred early COVID-19 worldwide outbreak timeline,[3] there are accumulated five dead cases of COVID-19 at present (27 March 2020). The dead bodies of those patients received specially sealed with vacuum plastic wrapping. The dead bodies were managed by cremation at crematorium. There is no case of disease transmission from the contact of those dead bodies. Nevertheless, there is already report of COVID-19 in a forensic medicine unit worker. It is interesting for further study on possibility of disease transmission from contaminated corpse.
