Erratum to: Burden of Children Hospitalized With Pertussis in Canada in the Acellular Pertussis Vaccine Era, 1999–2015

PMCID: PMC8581648  PMID: 34788464

An error appeared in the following article published in the Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society: Abu-Raya B, Bettinger JA, Vanderkooi OG, et al. Burden of Children Hospitalized With Pertussis in Canada in the Acellular Pertussis Vaccine Era, 1999–2015. Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society 2020; 9:118–27. doi:10.1093/jpids/piy128. Figure legends (A) and (B) were inverted. The correct legend should be:

“Figure 2. Intensive care unit (ICU) admission rates and admission incidences at Canadian Immunization Monitoring Program, Active (IMPACT) hospitals, 1999–2015. Shown are age-specific (<4 months) ICU admission rates (percentages) (A) and population-based ICU admission incidences (per 100000 population) (B) among infants hospitalized with pertussis in IMPACT hospitals, 1999–2015. The small numbers of patients older than 4 months who were admitted to an ICU precluded description of the incidence rates here”.

In table 1, the comparison of percentage of deaths in confirmed versus probable cases (21 [1.81%] vs. 0 [0%]) should yield p-value of 0.037 by Fisher’s exact test. Fisher’s exact test is the test preferred for comparisons with small cell number.

These errors do not change the results, discussion or conclusions of the study.

We would like to thank Dr. Helene Cote (Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of British Columbia, Canada) for alerting us to these errors.

We regret that these errors happened and apologize for any confusion this may have caused readers of Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.
