In the original publication we had erroneously reported the genotype for the single Denisovan individual as a O1/O(B) heterozygous, where the correct genotype should be O1/O1 homozygous. The text should read: “The single Denisovan individual presents two forms of O alleles (both presenting the typical LOF deletion at position Hg19 9:136132908). Both alleles are typical O1 identical to 1,411 chromosomes in the 1,000 Genomes Project.” Accordingly, the Denisovan 2 haplotype on Table 1 and Figure 1 should be identical to Denisovan 1—positions 136131322 (C), 136131415 (G), 136132873 (G), and 136132908 (T).

These details have been corrected only in this corrigendum to preserve the published version of record.
