Burkina Faso: Burkinabe authorities have received 400,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines as a donation from the Chinese government. Currently, only 1% of Burkina Faso’s residents have been jabbed since the beginning of the vaccination campaign in June. (PANA, Ouagadougou 19/9)

Chad: The chargé d’affaires at the United States (US) Embassy in Chad, Josie Ratcliffe, says her country has donated 117,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to the Republic of Chad. (Tchadinfos.com 3/10)

Egypt: The Ministry of Health has said that the country has received over 4m doses of the Chinese‐made Covid‐19 vaccines, including both Sinopharm and Sinovac. In a statement on Facebook, the cabinet added that the ministry also received 3,000 litres of raw material to produce the Sinovac jab, which is enough to locally manufacture 4.6m doses of the Chinese vaccine. Ethiopia: The Ministry of Health has received 271,200 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine from Germany through the Covax facility. (PANA, Addis Ababa 17/9)

Guinea: Guinea has received 336,000 doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine donated by the US. The National Health Security Agency (ANSS) has also received 200 oxygen cylinders, donated by the country management of the French investment group, Vincent Bolloré. (PANA, Conakry 25/9)

Libya: Libya has taken delivery of 144,000 doses of AstraZeneca’s vaccine as part of the Covax initiative, the National Centre for Disease Control announced. (PANA, Tripoli 24/9)

Mauritius: South Africa has donated 50,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to Mauritius through the African Vaccine Acquisition Task Team (AVATT). (PANA, Port‐Louis 22/9)

Mali: China has donated 835,200 doses of the Sinovac vaccine to Mali, as part of the Covax initiative. This is the largest supply of vaccine that Mali has received since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. (PANA, Bamako 5/10)

Namibia: Namibia has received over 300,000 additional Covid‐19 vaccines from the US and German governments, state‐run New Era newspaper website reported. “The donation includes 201,600 doses of AstraZeneca from Germany and 100,620 Pfizer vaccine doses from the US,” the website said. (New Era 28/9)

Nigeria: Nigeria has received 501,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines donated by the French government through the Covax facility, privately‐owned The Guardian website has reported. (The Guardian 9/10)

Somalia: Taiwan has donated a batch of domestically produced oxygen generators to Somaliland to combat the Covid‐19 pandemic, privately‐owned Shabelle Media reported. (Shabelle Media 7/10)

Uganda: Uganda has ordered nine million doses of the single‐shot Johnson & Johnson Covid‐19 vaccine through the African Union (AU) /African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) programme, the Daily Monitor website reported.

“This vaccine will be administered as a single dose to the priority groups who have not received any Covid‐19 vaccine to date,” said Health Permanent Secretary Diana Atwine. (Daily Monitor 8/10)

Meanwhile, the UK has donated at least 100 oxygen cylinders to Uganda to help boost the government’s response to the pandemic by supplying understocked hospitals, privately‐owned ChimpReports website reported. (Chimp Reports 13/10)
