In bacteria the internal loop of h44 of 16S rRNA consists of two nucleotides (A1492-A1493) on the 3’-side and has one nucleotide on the 5’-side (A1408). In contrast, eukaryotic 18S rRNA contains at least one additional nucleotide on each side is included (dashed box).
