Compared to the average American diet, the Hass avocado diet significantly lowered TC by −18 mg/dL, non-HDL-C by −16 mg/dL, and LDL-C by −14 mg/dL (p < 0.005), more than the low-fat diet and the moderate-fat diet after 5 weeks ( p = 0.01) [12].
