Page 1669, Fig. 6A, left panel: In response to a communication from the University of Glasgow, we were contacted by the journal about the integrity of this panel. The dean of the Faculty of Medicine subsequently asked the Research Integrity Commission at the Medical Faculty, University of Oslo, to instigate an investigation of potential fraud. We provided the original data and figure files. The commission found that the left panel of Fig. 6A was made by splicing lanes 1 and 3 of a Western blot, thus removing a miscellaneous lane 2, and that this was the case also for the top part. Hence, Fig. 6A and its associated data were deemed authentic in the investigation by the University of Oslo. The commission’s report has been accepted by the journal. A corrected image, acknowledging the splicing, is shown below (dotted lines indicate splicing).
