Scientific Journals publish a lot of content throughout the year, and it can be difficult to find the type of content you would like to read amongst all the articles that are being published. Sometimes we want to only read articles on one topic, like “Cervical Spine”, for example. To help create order in the chaos, GSJ has created Special Collections. These collections feature a landing page with links to specific topics. When you click on any link on the landing page, let us say you click on Thoracic/Lumbar, then it will take you to a page with all the articles GSJ has published on that topic. We know that not everyone wants to read every topic, and everyone has certain interests and research areas, and we want to make it as easy as possible for our readers.
The Special Collections are updated with the latest content at the beginning of each month, so they are always up to date. If you want to only read GSJ articles on one topic, this is the place to find all the articles on that topic. The best thing about the Special Collections is how it has helped me in my own research and presentations. I constantly refer to them when I am writing my own papers, as it is an easy way to find articles, and I often use it more than PubMedCentral. I gave a presentation a few months ago on COVID-19 and Spine Surgery and I was able to go to GSJ’s Special Collections page and click on the COVID-19 and Spine Surgery Collection, and there were 5 or 6 articles on this topic that I was able to use in my presentation.
There are currently 34 Special Collections on our landing page including various topics such as Anticoagulation, Deformity, Scoliosis, Basic Science, Biomechanics, Robotics and more. You can access the Special Collections here: https://journals.sagepub.com/collection-index/gsja.
We hope that you enjoy using GSJ’s Special Collections as much as we do and that it helps you in your reading and research experience with GSJ. We want to make it as easy as possible for all of you to try and find the research you need.
