An adult man [exact age not stated] exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with acitretin and ciclosporin for palmar psoriasis [routes and dosages not stated].
The man, who had history of obesity, impaired glucose tolerance and palmar psoriasis, started receiving treatment with acitretin and ciclosporin [cyclosporine]. However, the palmar psoriasis was resistant to acitretin and ciclosporin therapy (lack of efficacy).
Therefore, the man started receiving secukinumab, with partial improvement of the lesions. Although not widespread, psoriasis had a detrimental impact on his quality of life. He was constantly embarrassed by the visibility of the lesions, and the lesions hindered the activities of daily living. Therefore, secukinumab was discontinued, and at the age of 24 years, he was prescribed SC risankizumab 150mg at week 0, week 4 and every 12 weeks thereafter. Later, due to the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, he was temporarily lost to follow-up. Eight months following the initiation of risankizumab, he came back to clinic with complete clinical remission of palmar psoriasis, which was obtained after the first administration of risankizumab. However, it was noted that, he had misunderstood the correct treatment schedule and received only the first and second injection, 4 weeks apart.
