The authors regret that in the above article they included the statement “The incidence of trainees being suspended is very low in the UK, unlike in other countries, such as Pakistan and Poland”. The reference cited to support this statement makes reference to the relative numbers of doctors referred to the regulatory authorities in these countries who are sanctioned but does not refer specifically to trainees or suspension. The authors apologise for this misunderstanding and are grateful for it being brought to their attention.
