Correction to: European Journal of Clinical Nutrition 10.1038/s41430-022-01095-5, published online 23 March 2022

After the original article was published online, it was noticed that some minor changes were needed.

This concerns the following contents:

  • the last line of Table 1: 25-hydroxyvitamin D << 20 ng/ml should be replaced with >20 ng/ml

  • the abstract, the second line of the results: hydroxyvitamin D levels lower than 20 ng/ml should be replaced with higher than 20 ng/ml

  • the results, paragraph 1, line 7: levels lower than 20 ng/ml should be replaced with higher than 20 ng/ml

  • all units for zinc levels should be mcg/dL

These changes do not affect the results and the conclusions of the manuscript. The original article has been corrected.
