October 23-26, 2008,
NEW DELHI, INDIA
AOCN IANCON 2008
Dear Delegates,
Greetings from the Secretariat of AOCN-IANCON 2008.
At the outset we will like to welcome you all on behalf of the Organizing Committee of 12th Asian Oceanian Congress of Neurology and 16th Annual Conference of the Indian Academy of Neurology to be held at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi, 23-26 October 2008, (Thursday thru Sunday) preceded by Pre-conference Workshops on EEG, Multiple Sclerosis, Movement Disorder and Advocacy on October 22, 2008 (Wednesday) being held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The response for the conference has been quite good. By the time the main conference starts the four workshops will be over. The response for the workshop had been tremendous. We never thought that for this entire workshop the response will be so good. A total of 150 delegates registered for EEG Workshop, 70 for MS Workshop, 26 for Movement Disorder Symposium and 27 for Advocacy workshop at the time of writing this message. It is for the rst time an advocacy workshop has been organized in India. We all are advocates in our profession in one way or the other. A dedicated workshop on advocacy for furthering the cause of our patients and profession with the media, administrator and politicians to make easily available various diagnostic and therapeutic in various neurological departments at reasonable cost.
It is indeed an honor for the Indian Academy of Neurology and Asian Oceanian Association of Neurology and for all of us to welcome the very distinguished faculty (and patrons for our conference) like Dr. Johan A. Aarli, President, World Federation of Neurology, Dr. Stephen M Sergay, President, American Academy of Neurology, Dr. Amado San Luis, President Asian Oceanian Association of Neurology, Dr. Michael Finkel, president World Neurology Foundation, Dr. Niphon Poungvarin, the chief organizer of World Congress of Neurology 2009 who are attending the 12th Asian Oceanian Congress of Neurology and 16th Annual Conference of Indian Academy of Neurology.
We are also privileged by the decision of the World Federation of Neurology to hold the meeting of the Trustees, Council of Delegates and Council of Directors in New Delhi. We can call AOCN-IANCON 2008 as World Congress of Neurology in Asia.
Indian Academy of Neurology also takes this opportunity to extend our heartiest gratitude to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, who has very kindly consented to be the Chief Guest on the occasion of the inauguration of the Conference.
We are confident that it will be an enjoyable and academically rewarding experience for the delegates and the eminent national and international faculty attending the conference. We think that this conference will provide an opportunity to generate new ideas for furthering the development on the neurological aspects to be made available to the world and to Asia in particular.
I hope that after the academic feast in the day you will spare some time for social activities and take time out to go around one of the greenest cities in the world and have a look on various heritage monuments.
We offer very warm welcome and expect you will enjoy the conference and take sweet memories home.
Wishing you all a very happy stay at New Delhi.
