Editor Profiles: Guest Editors of Special Column on A New Era of Nanobiomaterial-based Drug Delivery

Prof. Haijun Yu is a pharmaceutical chemist and principal investigator at Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica (SIMM), Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. His laboratory is dedicated to developing smart drug delivery system for improving cancer therapy by regulating the tumor microenvironment. His group has developed a set of stimuli-activatable and prodrug-based drug delivery systems with improved drug delivery efficacy and therapeutic performance by overcoming the pathophysiological barriers of solid tumors. Prof. Yu graduated from Inner Mongolia University with a bachelor degree in 2001 and received his Ph.D. in 2006 from Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He joined SIMM at 2012 after postdoc training at Ludwig-Maximillian's University (Germany), UTSouthwestern Medical Center at Dallas (USA) and Tohoku University (Japan). Prof. Yu is the associate editor of Materials Express, the editorial board member of Journal of Gene Medicine and Chinese Chemical Letters. Prof. Yu also serves as a guest editor for Acta Pharm Sin B, Acta Pharm Sin, J Gene Med and several other peer-reviewed journals. Prof. Yu has authored and co-authored more than 130 peer-reviewed articles in the field of biomaterial sciences, pharmaceutics and nanomedicine.

Prof. Zhiyong Qian is a distinguished professor of West China Hospital, Sichuan University, and the winner of National Distinguished Young Scholar. Prof. Qian obtained his master degree from Sichuan University, obtained his Ph.D. from the Chengdu Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2003, and carried out postdoctoral study at Sichuan University. In 2005 he was promoted to Full Professor at the State Key Lab of Biotherapy, West China Hospital, Sichuan University. His research interests are in the area of biomaterials, biomedical engineering, drug delivery system, and nanobiotechnology. Prof. Qian has published over 100 papers as corresponding authors in peer-reviewed journals including Sci Adv, Adv Mater, Chem Soc Rev, Adv Funct Mater, Adv Sci, ACS Nano, Bioactive Mater, Acta Pharm Sin B, Chin Chem Lett, and etc. Prof. Qian is the Editor-in-Chief of MedComm-Biomaterials and Applications, the Co-Editors-in-Chief of Mater Express, and the Executive-Editor-in-Chief of Chin Chem Lett, the associate editor of Signal Transduct Target Ther and J Biological Eng, and is the editorial board member of Acta Pharm Sin B, Bioactive Mater, and etc. Prof. Qian had been supported by several well-recognized funds, including The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, National High-Tech Project of China (863-Project) and Sichuan Young Talents Program.
