There were three errors in the published article, these affected Figure 1(b), a sentence in the Results and a percentage in the Discussion. In Figure 1(b), the percentages of antibiotics used for the treatment of community-acquired infections (CAI; first bar) according to the WHO AWaRe classification were incorrect. The corrected Figure 1(b) is below.

Figure 1.

Figure 1.

(b) Percentage of antibiotic use according to the type of indication. SPs, surgical prophylaxis. This figure appears in colour in the online version of JAC and in black and white in the print version of JAC.

In the seventh paragraph of the Results section (page 810, right-hand column), the last sentence should have read ‘Access was the most frequently used group for surgical prophylaxis (57.9%), while antibiotics belonging to the Watch group prevailed for the treatment of CAIs (60.1%) and HAIs (64.8%).’ In the second paragraph of the Discussion (page 811, right-hand column) the prevalence of antibiotic use should have been 50%, not 40% as stated. The online version of the article has now been corrected.

The authors apologize for these errors.
