Figure 2

Acute myrcene treatment altered the kinetics of leukocytes in the arthritic joint microvasculature. Topical administration of myrcene to day 7 adjuvant monoarthritic knees reduced the number of rolling leukocytes in post-capillary venules supplying the joint (A). The maximal response occurred at 60 min following the start of treatment. **** p < 0.0001, *** p < 0.001 (5 mg/kg dose) ++++ p < 0.0001 (1 mg/kg dose) two-factor RMANOVA with Bonferroni’s post hoc test. Compared to myrcene alone, the reduction in leukocyte rolling was blocked by the CB2-receptor antagonist AM630 (75 µg s.c.) but not the CB1-receptor antagonist AM281 (75 µg s.c.). (B). Antagonists alone were not significantly different from vehicle. ns—not significant, ** p < 0.01, * p < 0.05, one-factor RMANOVA with Bonferroni’s post hoc test. Data are means ± S.E.M.
