The authors regret that the collection site of adult Oryctes rhinoceros in New Caledonia was reported to be Nouméa (Materials and Methods [page 3] and Table 1) rather than La Tontouta International Airport. The insects were collected approximately 50 km away from Nouméa at La Tontouta International Airport and there is no current record of O. rhinoceros in Nouméa. There is an active program to eradicate the pest from the area of La Tontouta International Airport and it is important that the current local distribution of O. rhinoceros in New Caledonia is reported with this greater precision. This correction does not affect the conclusions drawn and presented in the manuscript.

The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
